About Thumbprints Bake Shop

Thumbprints Bake Shop began with one little cookie. As a young mother, Sunshine Sedwick wanted her children to experience the same homemade treats she’d loved as a child baking alongside her grandmother.

A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee—where nearly every bakery has its own version of an iced thumbprint cookie—Sunshine was surprised to find that her favorite childhood treat was missing from the bakeries she visited in Virginia and the Boston area.

So, she decided to make them herself. After some trial and error, her recipe became a reliable favorite, shared and enjoyed by family, friends, and even folks back home.

Along the way, Sunshine discovered a true love—and talent—for baking and eventually, decorating. What started as a few thumbprints turned into a growing menu of traditional Southern sweets and custom cookies.

As word spread, those first shared batches turned into requests, the requests became orders, and before long, a small business was born.
